Minecraft EDU Club
“Gamers” and non-gamers - noobs and experts - are invited to join the Minecraft EDU Club at Cherry Valley-Springfield. Minecraft is a very popular “sandbox” game which allows users to construct things out of blocks in a creative environment. It is a first-person, open-world environment composed of 3D objects that represent real-world objects, and that can be manipulated in a variety of ways. Minecraft EDU is a custom modification that works on top of the Minecraft game platform. It allows designated teachers to create, and control the environment, to optimize student participation and engagement, and to ensure fair and collaborative gameplay.
The club is open to grades 6 to 12, and meets every Thursday after school from 3 to 5pm. Space is limited to only 24 students, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. See Mr. DeBoyace in the LMC for more details.
The goal of the club will be to work on engineering, collaborating and team-building skills while exploring the value of Game-Based Learning (GBL). The club will collaborate to create anything in the minds of the students. See Club Advisor - Mr. DeBoyace in the LMC to sign-up and for more details.
